It is awfully cold here, but we do not have a White Christmas predicted. Oh, how will I have any holiday spirit without a fluffy blanket of white? Hmmm. I know, I will finsd my own snow! Thank you etsy!

In the last year, two members of the bay area arts community lost their daughters to (unrelated) illnesses. To honor their memory, ZNE is raising money to install a mosaic at the Oakland Zoo which will serve as a permanent memorial to Stevie and Brianna. ZNE members have been donating pieces of their art/craft to be sold or auctioned off to raise the funds needed for the memorial. Donations are welcome - check the Hope Sees A Star blog for details if you’d like to donate something.

I have a few places I love to go and peruse the art supplied, assemblage materials and collage items. Some of them I like for just one item; others, everything on the site screams "You NEED one of these". Probably my all time favorite is BMUSE, though I do not get the chance to purchase much. Vicki "Mack" is just one of those really nice people I would not have met witjout the net. I love Anima Designs for the objets de' relgion and super kits. The bottle necklace kit is great, and comes in a cool little bag. Gift registry there, too! (hint) For a reasonable prince on clips of all kinds, see Bitsnpieces4U. I do not gravitate towards scrapbooking much, but I do dabble. Every once and awhile I see a paper pattern or paper maker that could be used in artwork. Such is the Wildflower line by Cactus Pink (love the name!)
Even more wonderful are the testural, thick inked sheets hand screened by Hambly Studios. Their transpaercies are yummy. Speaking of transparencies, I am in total love with the Christine Adolph collection from Creative Imaginations.
For ATC products and books, check Poet's Dream. For books you do not see many places (good for ideas and such) look at Create and Treasure. (Though it does have a scrapbook bent, the overlap between altered art is obvious.)
Love RatsJust the gift for your own true love - a love rat - or, better yet, a set of love rats! Albeit a bit creepy, it's certainly a unique way to express your love, don't you think? These 4-1/4 inch long, soft vinyl Love Rats are painted with hearts and feature long fleshy tails and squeakers!
You have probably seen the stories on the web about Owen and Mzee, the hippo and tortise who have adopted each other after the Tsunami. This is not the first time animals of differing species have cared for each other. There are lots of great stories and images at the Animal Liberation Front. Speaking of liberating animals, looking for a Valentine's Day idea? Why not get something from Crafters for Critters and help greyhounds from racing (greyhound racing SUCKS).
Check out this super pink sock dog. Give a gift and help a grey. (I have 2 iggies and want a full size!!)
